Holden Has Something He Wants to Tell You...

I'M GETTING A NEW HEART!

Yesterday the doctors at Shands officially listed Holden for a heart transplant.

That's not all though...

He's being listed as 1-A, which is the Amazon Prime of transplant lists.

That's not all though...

He's not on any IV medication(s). Many of the kids on the 1-A list are there because they need an IV medication(s), and all the annoying plastic appendages that come with them.

That's not all though...

Because he doesn't need those handcuffing IV drugs, he got to come home! (and Trick or Treat in our own neighborhood)

All three news items completely floored us, as doctors had prepared us for a lengthy stay in Gainesville pending the transplant.

To top it all off, it's was deemed the best possible scenario for Holden. To the doctor's knowledge, of the 183 (or so) pediatric heart transplants completed at Shands Hospital, Holden is the first kid to be listed 1-A AND get to go home while not on IV medication.

When will he get his heart? Whenever our phone rings. Could be tonight, it could be in a few months. For now, we are all back home, where we will patiently wait for the golden phone call.
